Youths can join Scouts BSA if they have earned the Arrow of Light Award and are at least 10 years old, have completed the fifth grade and are at least 10 years old, or are 11 but not yet 18 years old. These youths participate in a vigorous outdoor program with peer leadership and guidance from adult Scoutmasters. The goal is to achieve the BSA's objectives of developing character, citizenship, and personal fitness. Camping, fun with friends, and more—it's the adventure of a lifetime!
How often does Troop 57 meet?
Troop 57 meets every week at their Troop meeting, Tuesday evenings from 6:45-8pm. Beyond that, it depends on the patrol and troop. A troop may hold a special activity, such as a service project or outdoor experience, in place of one of the weekly meetings or in addition to the weekly meetings.
What is a patrol?
A Scout patrol is a small group of typically six to eight Scouts. Within the patrol, members learn skills together, share responsibilities, and take on leadership roles.
Who runs the troop?
The troop is run by the senior patrol leader, who is elected by the Scouts.
Who plans the meetings and activities?
The patrol leaders council (PLC), made up of the senior patrol leader, who presides over the meetings, the assistant senior patrol leaders, patrol leaders, and assistant patrol leaders.
We meet every Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Rockland VFW, located at 22 Church Street.
